Frequently Asked Questions
-
What shall I bring with my horse? All we need you to bring is your horse's rugs (preferably named) and any supplements or treatments they need during their stay.
-
Does the daily rate include feed?Yes it sure does. We feed all of our horses twice a day and give them hay as required.
-
What is not included in your daily rate? Our daily rate does not cover farrier, chiropractor, vet, dental or any other similar service, nor does it cover outings or arena/track fees. Specialised supplements and treatments are also excluded from our base daily rate. These expenses will be charged over and above the daily rate and will be charged based on what we have been invoiced from these professionals or based on the cost for us to deliver the service. In addition if your horse does not come with the appropriate covers we charge $2 per day for the use of our covers and on charge the cost of any cover repairs or new halters which have been broken or damaged by your horse while with us.
-
How long does it take to break-in a horse? It usually takes between 4-6 weeks for racehorses and around 6 weeks for the sport horses, but we let the horse dictate when he/she is ready so it may take less or more time depending on the horse.
-
Should I mouth, drive or lunge my horse before they arrive to be broken-in?Preferably not as we find it takes longer when they have been started like this and they often favour one rein or are stronger on the bit when this has been done already. We also have a policy of taking the horses back to the start of our process so we know it's been done correctly to ensure the best outcome is achieved.
-
Do you take them out hacking or on outings? If we feel the horse needs it then yes we can, however we do charge more for this to cover the additional travel time, fuel, mileage etc
